What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?

 Rexfeatures_1649359by
When we saw The Vaccines in the John Peel tent last year at Glasto we knew this would be a big year for them. They recently won NME's Best New Band Award and have a summer packed full of gigs and some of the world's best festivals.

Up and Coming

What –‘HMV Next Big Thing’ – Toy

Where – Barfly, Camden

When – 7th February

Upcoming band Toy have recently supported the likes of The Horrors and The Pretty Things and are dubbed as ‘One of the top 100 bands you have to hear in 2012’ by NME. Their sound is a mixture of British Indie and psychedelic rock, think Pulp and the Horrors.

Style Spotting at London Fashion Week

During Fashion Week we took time out to go down to the shows to people watch and see what the fashion pack were wearing. Here are a few of our favourite street style snaps...

Neon was a huge trend on the street at Fashion Week, it came in the form of zingy yellow jackets right through to more subtle details on accessories.

Project #2 Exclusive...

Project2-hidden-cat-banner-UK

To launch our exclusive Project #2 collection we invited fashion blogger Olivia Pervis,whatoliviadid.com, to style and shoot the pieces in her very own photoshoot. We caught up with her to find out her thoughts on the collection...

What is your favourite piece from the collection?
My favourite piece would probably have to be the Liz Hurley esque black body con dress! It's not usually something I'd go for, but felt like a film star in it- it was so flattering and had a super cool subtle 90's edge.

                             DSC_4794p_v1rgb_small

Which pieces would you wear for what occasion?
I think there's some amazing pieces in the collection for all occasions, I love the double denim combo with Kylie vest for festivals and gigs; as well as the black chiffon layer dress which would look so cool teamed with trainers and a cap for some shopping in town! There's also some amazing evening pieces such as the LBD and Kate Moss style mink satin dress which would look amazing for a meal out.

DSC_4872p_v1rgb_merge

What would you style with what from your own wardrobe?
I'd love to style the studded shorts with some old cool band tops or some ladylike sheer blouses! I'd also team the black waterfall jacket with some indigo skinnies and probably combine the amazing print leggings with a chunky oversized knit jumper in case I wanted to tone them down a little!

 Blog

What made you start a blog?
I'd been reading so many other amazing fashion and style bogs and felt so inspired to begin my own as a way of showcasing my love for clothes and personal style.

Your best fashion moment so far?
Probably winning the Cosmo blog award last year! It was such a surreal moment and I couldn't believe that many people read my blog and liked it as much as they do, I was and still am so flattered!

Did you enjoy modelling for Miss Selfridge?
I did! Everyone has been so lovely and it was so cool being able to style and wear the clothes in my normal style, watch out Moss!

What olivia did

What’s your favourite past Miss Selfridge buy?
I loved loved loved the Designed By collection (as I previously posted about) but they also have the most gorgeous blouses, and I'm a sucker for their winter princess style coats!

What is your key styling tip?
As long as you feel comfortable don't be afraid to wear want you want to! Life's too short not to have fun with your clothes!

What is your favourite fashion show from LFW?
Probably Mulberry! They're such a wonderfully British brand that always produce the most gorgeous clothes and accessories, which more importantly are so classic and wearable- swoon!

What is your favourite designer?
I'd never really heard about the brand before this week, but was so impressed by Jeff Garner for Prophetik! All his designs are reworked and eco friendly which I don't think we see enough from during fashion weeks!

Maccabees Play the Brixton O2 Academy

Macabees O2
We’re a little bit obsessed with the Maccabees at the moment and lucky Petites buyer, Gemma, managed to get tickets to their gig at the Brixton O2 Academy.

GettyImages_137775543Gemma tells all…

The venue was full of devoted fans and there wasn’t a seat to spare!

They came on stage around 9pm and played a mixture of tracks from all their albums. My fave was ‘First Love’ which they played in their encore.

GettyImages_137906530Support act Trailer Trash Tracys are definitely one to watch!  They've already supported the likes of The XX and have a cool 80's/90's vibe.

As a buyer I’m always looking and what people are wearing…

The crowd was full of rocker-cool girls wearing either a denim short or jacket, I also noticed lots of crochet/embellished collars. There were lots of men sporting the 50s quiff.
